When signing up for a MogoAccount or applying for a specific product, you may be asked to take certain steps to verify your identity. Requests will be made in-app or by email from one of our Mogo Team members.
You may be asked to upload a digital image/photo of your original unexpired Passport, Canadian driver’s license, Provincial ID card or Permanent residency card. You will also need to take a selfie, so get ready to smile! The in-app process is powered by Onfido. To learn more about our partner Onfido click here
In some instances, after you complete the in-app process we may need to conduct a further review of your documents. You will be notified of this secondary review in-app or by email, we will update you on your product eligibility status within 2 business days so keep an eye out for an email communication from us. We may need to request additional information, we may advise you that we are not able to approve you for the product you are applying for or we may advise you that you are good to go!

Why do I need to provide ID?
We are required by law to verify your identity. In some instances, additional documentation may be required to verify that you are who you say you are or to provide you with additional Mogo products. We do this to keep you and all our Members safe and also, because it’s the law.
What if I don’t have any of the documents you require?
Unfortunately, without one of the required documents and a selfie, you will not be eligible for the product you are requesting.
My physical appearance has changed a lot since I took the picture for my ID. What next?
Should our in-app process require additional review, it will be sent to one of our Specialists. Each situation will be carefully reviewed and decisions made on a case by case basis.
I’ve had a MogoAccount and/or MogoCard for a long time. Why are you asking me for additional ID documentation?
To ensure we comply with the continuously evolving regulatory requirements, existing Members may be required to provide additional information to satisfy identity verification requirements. While we understand that this may be a bit of a hassle, we do this to keep you and all our Members safe and also, because it’s the law.
