Everything you need to know about making a Bill Payment with MogoTrade
Having trouble figuring out how to deposit with the bill pay feature? We’ve got your back! Check out these helpful links to some major Canadian banks (below). If your bank isn’t on this list, visit their help centre or reach out to their support team for more details.
Important information when getting started:
- Confirm that the name displayed in your banking platform matches the name registered on your Mogo account (you can confirm this in Settings under the Account tab).
- If you have a joint account, be sure to use your bank card to login to your banking platform so we see your name and not the joint account owner’s name.
- There are 3 types of MogoTrade investment accounts: Personal, TFSA, and RRSP. You will have to set up an individual payee for each account that you wish to deposit to with Bill Payment. Each open investment account has their own account number so make sure that you are using the correct one or you may send cash to the wrong investment account.
Instructions to set up Bill Payment:
- Go to the Bill Payment section of your banking platform.
- This section can go by many names, depending on your banking institution, so be sure to check out the help articles in the first section (above) or reach out to your bank’s support team if you are running into any trouble locating it.
- Locate the Add Payee section and add us as a new payee by searching “CI Investment Services” in the Payee field.
- Mogo has partnered with CI Investment Services for deposits to your MogoTrade investment accounts.
- Do NOT select any payees labeled “Mogo” as they are for loan products or our pre-paid Visa. If you sent funds to this payee accidentally, please reach out to our support team with the details of your issue.
- The payee name “CI Investment Services” may be different depending on your banking institution (ex. “CI Investment Services Inc”). These name variations are valid and should be used as the Payee. If you aren’t sure that you have selected the correct Payee name or do not see the Payee on the list, please reach out to our support team with details of your issue.
- Add the corresponding account number for the account type (Personal, TFSA, or RRSP) you want to deposit to.
- This number can be located on the bill pay instructions page which you can find in your MogoTrade app: Account > Transfers > Deposit to MogoTrade
- Tap on the account number to copy, then paste it into your banking app.
- Add a nickname to the payee, so you don’t forget which account you are depositing to. For ease of use, we recommend:
- MogoPersonal
- MogoTFSA
- MogoRRSP
- Save the payee, so you can use it when you are ready to make a deposit to your MogoTrade investment account.

Deposits are normally credited to your account within 2 to 4 business days not including weekends and holidays.
